100 Model Farmers selected the from 10 target villages under the 4 CPAs of O Tung, O Kampha, O Tabouk and Mondul Yorn CPA of Veun Sai and Taveng District. The model farmers will receive the technical supports and trainings on Climate Smart Agriculture Techniques regarding tree crops selection, soil management, fertilizer use, crops management, and sharing of best practices. Most of the farmers stay overnight at the farming house/cottage to take care of their crops and they usually grow their tree crop in/within the rice farming plot. The main issue for their tree crops and other agriculture productions is the lack of water especially during the dry season from January to May.
The criteria selection of the model farmers includes a. have their own farming land, b. currently working in farm, c. available labor to work on the farm, d. participation in training and capacity building.
Provide Tree Crops to Model Farmers
Variety of tree crops and farming materials provided to 100 Model Farmers that they will grow them along with other tree crops in their own farm using the Climate Smart Agriculture Techniques trained by the NTFP and FFI team. The project team will provide addition supports to the farmers in terms of coaching supports and crops monitoring. The project expects that the model farmers can benefit from this tree crops starting from the 3rd year of growing that can they can use them for their household consumption or even selling in the local markets for income generation.
