DONOR VISITS

On August 26, 2020, the project teamwork of the Mission Alliance (MA), and NTFP’s project team visited the project target areas in Ratanakkiri province. The project teamwork met with groups of vegetable farmers, PAR’s youths, committees, the principal and deputy of the primary school that are located in La En Kren village and La En Churng village in O’Chum commune, O’Chum district, Ratanakkiri province.

As a result:

Discussion with the principal and deputy of primary schools
• The project teams inspected the general situation La En Kren village and La En Churng village Primary Schools.
• The project teams discussed with the principal and deputy about the progress of the project, the challenges during Covid-19 pandemic, students drop out, understand the needs of the school and students, dreams and future plans for the school.
Discussion with PAR’s youths:
• The project teams discussed with the PAR’s youth group about the results, the success achieved after participating in the project.
• PAR Youth shared their knowledge and experiences that they learnt from the project, their personal interests, enjoyment of researching activities that involved with their community development.
• PAR Youth were happy with the support and encouragement of village and commune authorities, elders in the activities to help develop their communities.
• They told their vision and future plans for their next generation to help develop the community. Such as; commitment to protect and conservation of natural resources and village library for the community.
Discussion with vegetable farmers:
• The vegetable farmers showed their interest in projects, knowledge and experiences such as: vegetable growing techniques, composting and natural pesticides.
• The vegetable farmers said they were happy and they shared the knowledge and experiences with farmers in the community and outside the community.
• The vegetable farmers reported on vegetable production, incomes from vegetable sales and improved family living conditions.
• The vegetable farmers reported challenges and solutions related to growing vegetables, such as seasonal issues, varieties of vegetable seeds, pests, and lack of water sources during the dry season.
• The vegetable farmers (La En Churng village) have encouragement from the Provincial Department of Agriculture in Ratanakkiri province. The department helps to find selling markets for vegetables and allowing the vegetables’ stalls near the department.
